The Road To v0.7

The Road to Marsho v0.7 Beta

After months of development, testing, and refinement, we’re proud to announce the release of Marsho v0.7 — and officially welcome Marsho into Beta.

Marsho was built with a simple mission: create a fast, lightweight, writer-focused CMS without the clutter, complexity, or endless plugin maintenance that has become common with modern website platforms.

How Marsho Began

The story of Marsho started in November 2025.

I run a personal website and YouTube channel called "My Wife Hates This Car", and after a routine WordPress update completely broke my site, I reached a breaking point. Like many website owners, I found myself trapped in the endless cycle of updates, plugin conflicts, and uncertainty every time a new version was released.

At that moment, I had two choices:

  • Continue relying on a system that constantly demanded maintenance.
  • Build a CMS designed around the way I actually wanted to create and publish content.

I chose the second option.

Five months later, Marsho was born.

Marsho is the CMS I always wanted: fast, simple, transparent, and built for creators who care more about publishing great content than managing bloated software.

From v0.1 to v0.7

Marsho has gone through seven development versions so far, with every release introducing new features, improvements, and bug fixes.

The earliest version, v0.1, was intentionally simple. It allowed users to create Markdown files organised into folders and deliver them directly as web pages. Since then, each release has expanded the platform’s capabilities, taking Marsho from pre-alpha to alpha — and now officially into beta.

Today, Marsho covers around 90% of what most website owners actually need.

With Marsho, you can easily create:

  • Pages
  • Articles
  • Landing pages
  • Structured website content

All while using a clean system based on Markdown files and folders rather than databases and complex admin panels.

In many ways, it feels like a return to the early days of the web — when websites were simpler, faster, and easier to understand. That decision was deliberate.

With Marsho:

  • What you see is what you get
  • Your content remains accessible
  • Nothing is hidden behind layers of plugins or databases

A CMS Without the Bloat

Marsho also includes built-in form functionality, allowing you to create contact forms and enquiry forms with ease.

Form submissions can:

  • Be emailed directly to you
  • Be saved to a file
  • Or both

Just like the rest of Marsho, form submissions are stored as readable Markdown files instead of being buried inside a database.

Because Marsho is entirely file-based, your content stays portable, transparent, and easy to manage.

No database maintenance. No unnecessary complexity. Just content.

Built for Writers and Creators

Throughout development, we’ll continue documenting the growth of Marsho and showcasing the features that make it different from traditional CMS platforms.

Our goal is simple:

Put writers, creators, and publishers first.

Marsho is designed to help you share your message without installing dozens of plugins or fighting against unnecessary features you never asked for.

We believe a CMS should stay out of your way and let you focus on creating.

Join the Closed Beta

We want Marsho to become the most reliable tool in your creative toolbox — something you can trust to keep working without constant maintenance or surprises.

That’s why we’re opening Marsho to a limited closed beta program.

Anyone accepted into the beta will receive:

  • Full access to Marsho
  • No obligation to continue using it
  • No future payment requirements

And yes — beta accounts will remain free forever.

This is our way of saying thank you to the early adopters willing to support a new approach to publishing on the web.

Building a Better Web

At a time when much of the internet feels increasingly bloated, over-commercialised, and difficult to manage, Marsho aims to move in the opposite direction.

We believe websites should be:

  • Fast
  • Simple
  • Transparent
  • Creator-focused

Marsho exists to make publishing enjoyable again.

We’re incredibly excited about what comes next, and we hope you’ll be part of the journey.

Many thanks,
Michael
